Fertility

If you have been trying to get pregnant for 12 months or more – or six months if you're a woman older than 35 years – it's time to talk to one of the doctors at The Bubble about what to do next.

Everybody's fertility experience is different.

While some women get pregnant easily, for others it can take many months. And for some, no matter how healthy they are or how well they have prepared themselves, it can be difficult to get pregnant. If you have been trying to get pregnant for 12 months or more – or six months if you're a woman older than 35 years – it's time to talk to one of the doctors at The Bubble about what to do next.

At the Bubble, we like to see both partners to find out why you’re not conceiving. Data suggests just as many men experience infertility as women. When booking your appointment, book a fertility consult for both people in the relationship.

Your GP might conduct some preliminary tests to investigate. Depending on the results you might then be referred to a fertility specialist who will do further testing to try to determine the cause of the problem.

Depending on the cause of infertility, your GP or fertility specialist may suggest assisted reproductive treatment (ART).

Fertility problems can be caused by problems with a woman’s or a man’s reproductive system. About one-third of infertility is due to male factors and one third to female factors. Sometimes both partners have a fertility problem. In about 20 per cent of cases, there is no apparent cause of infertility. This is called unexplained infertility.
