Dr Emily Mackrill MBBS, FRACGP

she / her / hers

Dr Emily grew up in Pataway/Burnie, before completing her medical degree at the University of Tasmania. She undertook her internship and RMO years at the Launceston General Hospital, where she worked across a range of specialties including a rotation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Em has since worked as a GP registrar in Scottsdale, Rokeby, and at the Aboriginal Health Service in Nipaluna/Hobart. She obtained her FRACGP in early 2023, winning the Tasmanian Faculty Examination Medal for achieving the highest score in her written fellowship exams.

Dr Em is particularly passionate about weight-neutral medicine and does not weigh patients routinely or promote weight loss as a default goal. After the birth of her son in late 2024, Em has also developed a passion for Neuroprotective Developmental Care, and is planning on completing her NDC training in late 2025.

Outside of work, Dr Em enjoys reading pastel-covered millennial fiction, drinking natural wines, and sharing pastries at the market with her son Wes. She also likes to start new hobbies and has recently taken up bird watching.

Dr Em can advise on the following topics:
