Dr Natasha Vavrek was born and raised in Launceston and is the Director (aka boss lady) at The Bubble Tasmania and a consulting GP at The Bubble Launceston.

She studied a Bachelor of Medical Science, then completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Tasmania, graduating with Honours in 2009. After completing internship and residency at the Launceston General Hospital, she then went on to achieve fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). She was also awarded the RACGP Tasmanian Examination medal in 2013.

She has a FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health. She is highly experienced in all areas of women’s health and has developed a solid reputation in this area. Along with her almost decade long experience as a doctor in general practice, she also has worked and trained through Family Planning Tasmania. Through this work she developed an interest in Intrauterine Contraceptive Device’s (IUD). She has completed extra training in the insertion of IUD’s and has been regularly inserting IUD’s for the past 6 years through her work in general practice. She has inserted hundreds of IUD’s and is very experienced with the insertion of IUDs in women who have not had children or have only had caesarean sections.

In 2020, Dr Vavrek completed training and gained accreditation as a Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) Practitioner (the second in Tasmania). Through her training she can provide comprehensive, evidence-based approaches to infant sleep issues, crying and unsettled behaviour, as well as supporting mothers with any breastfeeding problems. She is passionate about empowering mothers and providing support and up to date evidence based advice and education on their journey of motherhood.

She has special interests in pregnancy planning and antenatal GP shared care. She is also developing a new found love for supporting women during menopause, and is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society.

In the past she has worked as a Refugee Health doctor for five years as well as trained GP registrars through General Practice training Tasmania. For the past few years, Dr Vavrek has also enjoyed providing aesthetic treatments as a cosmetic doctor at Purebody Launceston. She also consults at Windmill Hill Medical for a couple of sessions a week.

Giving back to her community is something that was instilled from a young age by her own mother and she volunteers for Soroptimist International Launceston, of which she is currently Immediate Past President and President Elect of Soroptimist International Tasmania. The group acts to provide support to women and girls in need at local, national and international levels.

She is a mother of two young daughters and enjoys educating her daughters on how to be fierce feminists. Her husband is her biggest cheerleader. When she has a spare minute, she can usually be found relaxing at her shack on the East Coast!
