Dr. Sarah Shepherd is a University of Tasmania medicine graduate who made the move from the mainland in 2007—and never looked back!

She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2015, later earning her Master of Psychiatry through the University of Melbourne in 2020. She is also a Medicare-registered Mental Health Focussed Psychological Strategies provider. Now, also a credentialed Neurodevelopmental Care (NDC) provider, Sarah supports mums and bubs in strengthening their close bond using Possums Program approaches. She also works with adolescents with women’s health concerns and perimenopause clients, helping them maximise their health and navigate through these difficult life stages with care and confidence.

Sarah has a special interest in mental wellness, believing that a holistic approach is essential. She can provide short-term, structured interventions to help patients get back on track, with a focus on practical strategies, either with or without a mental health care plan. Sarah is not currently taking on clients for long term mental health care.

For over a decade, Sarah has worked closely with adolescents in the Launceston community, providing guidance on contraception, sexual health, and respectful relationships. She is also actively involved in medical education, working as a senior lecturer at the University of Tasmania School of Medicine and an examiner for RACGP registrars.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys permaculture design, continuously refining her own garden alongside her partner and energetic young son. She finds joy in cooking vegetarian feasts, diving into audiobooks, and spending family time outdoors.
